G20 Boondoggle Ballads - Now With Video!

The G20 boondoggle has had at least some good results: it has certainly sparked some creative work out here in the blogosphere.

I dug into my inner Barenaked Lady and penned a quick take on this called "If I Had A Billion Dollars". But Mike Watkins' "The Wreck of the Conservative Party", inspired by Susan Delacourt's twitter call for Edmund Fitzgerald spin-offs, is brilliant and must be read.

But now JimBobbySez has taken it a step further by putting together an audio/video recording of "The Ballad of Fake Lake", also inspired by Gordon Lightfoot's classic ballad.

Harper: Fiscal Conservative or Debt Creator?

The "base" is getting restless.

The Canadian Taxpayers' Federation has served as a farm team of sorts for the Conservatives through the years. Immigration Minister Jason Kenney once headed the organization, as did the Prime Minister's current head of communications, John Williamson.

But the federation has been distinctly unhappy with Harper's spending record of late and it has another kind of farm imagery on its mind. Here is its newly released video, which is billed as "light-hearted," even though I find it a bit scary (I think it's the glowing red eyes.)

Andrew Coyne eviscerates Harper's lack of conservativism

Not only has Harper not acted in any way like a conservative and abandoned all conservative fiscal priniples and policies and ideologies, according to Andrew Coyne at the 2009 Manning Centre Conference, and not only have they not "moved the centre" of Canadian politics to the right, even before the recession Stephen Harper and the "Conservative" Party actually moved the centre of Canadian politics further to the left. That's his take; what's yours?
